Moving checklists

Plan your move in different stages. This will save you a lot of stress and problems, not to mention time and money. It will also reduce the likelihood of you forgetting something.

Practical tips

order plenty of packing materials
Pack and label any non-essential items as soon as possible
Don’t overfill the removal boxes. Make sure they are still light enough to carry
Pack all breakables in padding and label clearly
Use special wardrobe cartons with hanging frames for packing clothes. This will save you from having to iron them when you move in
Don’t wrap anything in newspaper, as the print will transfer
Use bubble wrap to provide extra protection for delicate items
Label each packed box by “destination/room” in the new home
Cupboard and wardrobe drawers can be filled with light objects for removal
Pack valuable items and documents separately and transport them yourself
Don’t use rubbish bags for packing, as they could easily be mistaken for real rubbish
